CD - Moonstruck

Poems of Hugh MacDiarmid, set to music and sung by Nicola Black.

For tour dates, see MySpace.

moonstruck The idea for this CD came about after a friend asked Nicola to sing 'The Little White Rose', one of MacDiarmid's best known poems. It took 5 years to complete the project which resulted in this collection of songs, including 'Empty Vessel', 'Focherty', 'Scunner' and many more.

The settings cover a wide musical range which have delighted audiences throughout Scotland and in the United States.

The album features the playing of Gavin Marwick, (Iron Horse, Cantrip), and accordion from long time collaborator, Pete Garnett, (Moishie's Bagel)

The a capella tracks were recorded live in Penpont Church, other tracks feature vocal harmonies and a range of instrumental colour and diversity.

"...the boldest an maist visionary projects involvin a 're-imagining' o hou tae presaint the great MacDiarmid's wark that Scotland hus seen in years! ..."
